DNRD Hosts the 7th Government Discussion Forum on Electronic Identity Documents in Dubai

The Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) will be hosting the 7th Government Discussion Forum on Electronic Identity Documents in Dubai between the 13th and 15th of January. Delegates from 38 countries will be attending the forum at Al Bustan, Rotana Hotel as well as government dignitaries, and leaders in the IT communities. This event is the 2nd biggest forum in the world when it comes to Electronic Identity Documents. In previous years it has been presented in Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Austria, but for the first time it has come to the Arab world. DNRD is proud to host this technology exposition of ePassport, smart ID card, biometric and automated border control solutions which will be highlighted during the forum’s open and closed sessions to enable government officers, airline and airport executives to learn about the latest solutions for border security and e-documentation enhanced by biometric breakthrough. The 7th Government Discussion Forum on Electronic Identity Documents will consist of one day of introductory government briefings, one day of closed-door discussions by government officers responsible for passports, national identity cards and border control systems, followed by a tour of Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. Some of the national attendees will consist of members of the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department, Dubai Police, Abu Dhabi Police, the Emirates Identity Authority, Dubai Airport, Emirates Airlines and the Ministry of Interior. Internationally some of the participating members are from United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), UK Border Immigration Agency, and the Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany. According to Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of DNRD, “DNRD is committed to adopting the latest technology that governs security measures and elevating the standard of human resources, and hosting this forum for this first time in the Arab world is a great opportunity to showcase our experience and continue to learn from leaders in similar fields.”
