National day celebrations held in Dubai

Many government departments began celebrations for UAE's 38th National Day Wednesday by hosting various activities at their premises.The celebrations took place as the departments will remain closed next week. The activities were open to public at Dubai Courts, Dubai Municipality, Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs and other public service departments. Eight military air force parachuters flew in the sky holding the UAE flag. Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director-General of the Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs said the UAE has shown the world that with good efforts one can achieve miracles. "Our country symbolises nationalism and advancement," he said. Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, who cut the ceremonial cake to begin the celebrations, said it is only a small part of the large and joyous celebrations. He said it is not only a matter of joy for citizens, but for all residents — in a country which comprises of different nationalities. The municipality celebrations will not be confined to the municipality's main building, but will take place in all other branches and facilities of the civic body. Other celebrations included the ‘Portrait of Zayed' workshop, at Marina Al Bateen, in Abu Dhabi, which will last until December 13. A media company has also released a documentary film Zayed, the pride of UAE, on the occasion of the 38th National Day. Royal tribute Produced by Anasy Media Production, the film is released on a number of local and satellite channels in the country, including Abu Dhabi TV, Dubai TV, Sharjah TV, Noor Dubai and Al Dhafra channels. The film, co-produced and sponsored by Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Muthaker Al Shafe'ei Al-Hajri, depicts the life and achievements of Shaikh Zayed and his role in the progress of the UAE. Emirates Airline organised various activities, too. "We have accomplished a lot... since the federation, which is our pride and inspiration... What the country has accomplished during this short period is amazing..."
