GDRFA joins the world in celebrating World Mental Health Day
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has joined the world in marking World Mental Health Day, which falls on October 10, by organizing a forum bringing together mental health specialists and human resources personnel. The forum delved into effective strategies and mechanisms for fostering and uplifting mental health within the workplace.
The event was inaugurated by HE Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA. In his opening remarks, Lt. Gen. Al Marri highlighted the importance of doubling efforts to improve mental health and extend the necessary support to individuals in need.
He stressed that mental health is a pivotal element of the holistic well-being, meriting keen attention from GDRFA to assure a conducive, balanced, and health-centric work environment.
He further stated, "Fostering sustainability and development bolsters both the economy and individual well-being. Thus, enhanced mental health means increased productivity and efficiency at work, thereby achieving a harmonious balance across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. In line with this, we have recently rolled out sustainable initiatives aimed at heightening awareness regarding the significance of mental health."
The forum's activities, which included a video presentation emphasizing the importance of mental health, witnessed the participation of Dr. Hind Al Rostamani, Counseling psychologist at Tabyeen Centre for Research and Training and a Board Member of the Dubai Autism Centre, who delivered a speech on the subject.
This was followed by a sequence of interactive activities and competitions, providing participants with an avenue to explore new self-interactive methods and enhance their psychological well-being. The event aimed to improve the mental health of the workforce, spur interactions, and communication through engaging in activities and competitions, all within a pleasant and conducive environment.
