The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai showcases eight innovative smart projects at GITEX Dubai 2024

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai has announced its participation in GITEX Global 2024, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 14 to 18 October. During this leading event, the Directorate will present eight innovative smart projects and systems aimed at enhancing digital transformation and improving the customer experience.

His Excellency Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, said: “In line with Dubai’s vision to enhance its position as a global hub for innovation and artificial intelligence, we are preparing to introduce a range of smart solutions that contribute to simplifying the lives of community members and enhancing the experience of residents and visitors.” He pointed out that the exhibition would be an opportunity to highlight the latest technological developments adopted by the Directorate, along with announcing new competitions and initiatives.

His Excellency emphasised the importance of participating in this globally renowned technological event, which reflects the Directorate's commitment to adopting technology and innovation to improve quality of life and customer happiness. He added: “We are keen to showcase pioneering projects that aim to position Dubai as a global centre for technology and to strengthen digital transformation.”

Lieutenant Colonel Expert Khaled bin Mediya Al Falasi, Deputy Assistant Director for Smart Services, highlighted the importance of employing advanced technology to enhance service efficiency and achieve digital integration to enable various operations. He added: “At the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, we strive to develop innovative systems that aim to provide proactive and seamless services that meet customer expectations, using the latest artificial intelligence and big data technologies to support decision-making and accelerate procedures.”

Among the projects to be showcased is the “Seamless Travel” project, which facilitates passage through borders using facial recognition without the need to stop, enhancing the efficiency of the travel experience. The Directorate will also showcase the “Pre-Registration Service,” allowing travellers to register their biometric data before arriving in Dubai, and the “Esnad Digital Services Platform,” which supports employees in performing their tasks.

Additionally, the Directorate will present the “AI-Powered Digital Assistant” system, designed to provide immediate service support to customers, and the “Customer Sentiment Analysis System,” which uses artificial intelligence techniques to analyse facial expressions and voice data to measure customer satisfaction. The Directorate will also reveal the “Mobile Dock,” a tablet that simplifies the biometric registration process for travellers.

In line with its commitment to raising digital awareness, the Directorate will organise a Cybersecurity Hackathon to increase university students’ awareness of the importance of digital protection and combating cyber threats.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai invites visitors to visit its platform at GITEX 2024 to learn more about its latest achievements in digital transformation and to strengthen cooperation with technology partners. It is noteworthy that this year’s GITEX exhibition will feature more than 6,000 exhibitors, 1,800 speakers from 180 countries, and over 187,000 visitors are expected to attend.
