Statement of the Director General on the International Day of Peace

His Excellency Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), said on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, which falls on September 21st every year: “The UAE occupies a unique global position in establishing the principles of acceptance and peaceful coexistence, which have now transcended the borders of Arab countries to the rest of the world, thanks to the wise and thoughtful policies pursued by the UAE to spread the message of love and brotherhood among people of all religions." He added that the UAE has been synonymous with peace and harmony since its founding by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who demonstrated to the whole world through his words and deeds during various regional and international situations that a sincere pursuit of peace guarantees happiness for nations and people. It also drives the development of societies and therefore, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, follows in his footsteps. His Excellency Al Marri added that GDRFA is keen to contribute to the realization of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai International Airport a ‘gateway to peace’ through which the people of the world can experience the UAE’s spirit. He stated that GDRFA has adopted a clear strategy to achieve its mission to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world in terms of the safety and security of its people, including those of travellers. “We strive to delight travellers and provide them with all facilities, and from this standpoint, we have prepared all management employees at the air, sea and land ports to be one integrated team with excellent skills including the ability to speak a variety of languages to facilitate the travellers’ experience and reassure them,” he explained. His Excellency Al Marri said that the diplomatic and historical achievement of the International Peace Treaty that we witnessed yesterday confirms the wise forward-looking vision of the UAE to chart a new path towards ensuring peace in the Middle East region. “We are proud of our Emirati leadership, as it is truly an exceptional leadership striving to achieve the best. It is an advocate for tolerance and peace,” he noted. He also affirmed that the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, with regard to the treaty has been widely welcomed by the Arab and Islamic countries, which in turn will open up new horizons for the UAE in various sectors, leading to a future that promises security, stability and prosperity for the whole region.
