The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has wrapped up another successful participation in the UAE Innovation Month, which was launched under the slogan " UAE Innovates" on February 2.

The event coincided with the declaration of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan 2023 as the Year of Sustainability.

During the annual event, the GDRFA organized a series of activities, programs, inspiring initiatives and dialogue sessions, such as the "Hidden Creator" initiative and a dialogue session entitled "Fingerprint Bank Project".

This is in addition to the "Innovation District", "GDRFA Hackathon", "The Innovation Platform", and a knowledge workshop in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance entitled "Introduction to Intellectual Property". The month's activities concluded with the second Innovation Forum in cooperation with PDCA Group.

The "Hidden Creator" initiative was launched during the event to discover innovators in GDRFA. The goal was to create a database of innovators and place them in specialized fields.

Another event, the "Fingerprint Bank Project" dialogue session, aimed to create a vital database for all air, land and sea port customers. Through the "Innovation District", the GDRFA reviewed the most prominent innovative projects, which aimed to develop the proposals and ideas of employees and customers. The "GDRFA Hackathon" brought together innovative skills and minds from several categories and disciplines of Zayed University students to search for pioneering solutions to strategic challenges.

In related context, GDRFA congratulated its winning cadres at the 3rd global conference to support innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship system in Kuwait. Undersecretary Amer Saeed Al-Jabri won first place in the category of the new security invention for the "Smart Lab" project, while Captain Harib Al-Shehhi earned a prestigious gold medal at the 13th International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME) held in Kuwait. The award-winning system he developed provides essential site-related information to users. The event saw participation from 235 inventors representing 40 Arab countries as well as foreign countries, making this recognition all the more prestigious.
