Dubai's GDRFA Leads Community Support and Sponsorship for Youth Projects
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai is one of the top government entities, prioritizing support for the aspirations of young people alongside many other equally significant priorities, all intricately connected to uplifting the lives of Emirati youth.
GDRFA's commitment to supporting youth can be sensed through a multitude of initiatives aimed at fostering a nurturing environment for young individuals' ambitions. These include a series of quality training programmers and workshops designed to upgrade their skills, nurture their entrepreneurial talents, stimulate their motivation, and endorse their creative business projects and ideas, paving the way for the next fifty years.
HE Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, emphasized that GDRFA pays utmost attention to supporting youth and is committed to showcasing their projects through organizing forums, exhibitions, and initiatives.
The "Entrepreneurship Makers Forum" is one of the notable community initiatives organized by GDRFA at Al Khawaneej Majlis in Dubai last March. It was a major creative forum aiming to enrich the youth landscape by facilitating the exchange of views and ideas and proposing solutions to enhance the business environment. This initiative provided a platform for formulating pioneering and innovative ideas, leading to the launch of successful, quality projects.
Between September 2021 and March 2023, over 120 startups received support from GDRFA, and their products were showcased at the directorate headquarters.
The "Bahja Shop" initiative is another prominent project launched by GDRFA to support youth-led projects. The unique initiative aimed to assist small projects for young citizens. In its initial and future phases, the initiative provides a platform for young Emiratis to display their products by offering exclusive discounts to the directorate's employees, ranging from 30% to 50% on the products offered.
As a result of these efforts, GDRFA hosted more than 120 national entrepreneurs. The number of beneficiaries from these projects exceeded 6,000 employees, in addition to numerous visitors.
