GDRFA Dubai Captures Five Awards at International Invention and Trade Expo 2023, London
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has clinched five prestigious awards at the International Invention Competition held on the sidelines of the International Invention and Trade Expo 2023 in London.
The event, organised at Kensington Olympia from October 5th to 8th under the supervision of the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA), is recognised as one of the world's leading platforms for inventions and innovation. Competing against inventors from 32 countries, GDRFA showcased its pioneering spirit and inventive prowess.
GDRFA’s landmark invention,Fronds, captivated the jury, winning three gold medals and receiving special recognitions from the "Dunarea de Jos" University of the Republic of Romania, and Croatian Inventors Network (Inova Croatia), as the best security invention.
HE Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, expressed pride in the accomplishment achieved, emphasising GDRFA’s commitment to upgrading the Saaf project and deepening collaborations with relevant entities to maximise societal and environmental benefits.
The "Fronds" project, led by Amer Saeed Al Jabri, Head of the Creative Care Department at GDRFA's Innovation and Future Centre, demonstrates a unique and innovative utilisation of palm fronds. By transforming these natural resources into security features for documents, the project embodies the UAE’s focus on sustainability and innovation. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the country's leadership directives, especially in the Year of Sustainability, showcasing a creative blend of tradition and modern technology.
