Dubai Residency celebrates National Environment Day at the Global Village
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai celebrated National Environment Day at the Global Village. The celebration coincided with February 4th; a date dedicated annually to this cause. The Community Responsibility Department contributed to the event by distributing saplings, seeds, fertilizer, and colourful stories for children to visitors at their awareness campaign booth "For You, We Are Here," which has been active since January 8th and will conclude on February 8th. This initiative aims to acquaint the public with the smart services offered to clients.
The Directorate's initiative seeks to enhance environmental awareness among citizens and residents, instilling the concept of environmental protection and emphasizing the importance of preserving biodiversity. It also aims to educate about the role of forests as a key element of future sustainability, encourage participation in environmental events, and connect people to local and global environmental issues.
On this occasion, His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, stated that the UAE has become a global capital providing hope for a greener environment. He expressed solidarity with the nation's wise leadership, embodying the goals of the Year of Sustainability announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and the efforts of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to position the UAE as a model of environmental preservation.
He affirmed that celebrating National Environment Day, which falls on February 4th annually, reflects the leadership's and government's commitment to supporting global efforts in leading initiatives that enhance focus on environmental work. He mentioned the UAE's significant role in hosting COP28 as a fundamental pillar in combating climate change, raising environmental awareness, promoting renewable energy use, developing green infrastructure, and enhancing resource efficiency. This aligns with the Directorate's dedication to spreading community awareness about the importance and sustainability of a green environment for a purer world.
