GDRFA Dubai teams up with Dubai Blood Donation Center for "My Blood for My Country" campaign
The healthcare department at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, in collaboration with the Dubai Blood Donation Centre, has launched a blood donation campaign titled "My Blood for My Country, "in which 62 staff members from the directorate have taken part.
The initiative was organised as part of GDRFA’s ongoing commitment to playing a fundamental humanitarian role in society. GDRFA stated that this initiative is one of many social initiatives launched, not only to enhance social responsibility but also to promote charitable actions within the community.
The directorate emphasised that this campaign acts as a bridge for fostering greater cooperation among various entities and institutions in supporting humanitarian initiatives. It also serves as an incentive to encourage employees and all members of society to embrace a culture of blood donation.
Further emphasising the benefits of the campaign, GDRFA noted that regular blood donation helps the donor as well. It stimulates bone marrow activity to produce new blood cells, improves blood circulation, reduces the risk of blood clots by lowering iron levels in the blood, and, importantly, boosts the national blood bank reserves.
Blood donation is a vital act of generosity that helps a wide range of humanitarian cases. It provides essential support for children with Thalassemia, individuals suffering from heart conditions, and leukaemia patients. Moreover, it is critical for saving the lives of those injured in trauma departments across all hospitals in the country, both in the public and private sectors, as well as for patients in urgent need of blood transfusions.
